Making A Great Fold.....
In my opinion being
able to make a good fold is one of most difficult skills to learn in poker,
even more so than making a great call.
Anyone can call down a bet from another player in the hope he is bluffing
however, when you have a really strong hand it is much more difficult to fold
that when your opponent has a slightly better hand. Aces Vs Kings for example pre flop, how many
of us can say that they have folded Kings before the flop when they have been
re-raised by Aces!! I know when I first
started playing over 10 years ago now, I folded Kings pre-flop, I’m not quite
sure what the other guy had as he never showed but these days I’m almost definitely
never folding Kings pre-flop, at the end of the day even if your opponent has
Aces and all the chips go in before the flop, you still have two Kings you can
hit!!!
Anyway thinking
about making a great fold reminded me of one of my favourite hands in poker
which saw Roberto Romanello making an amazing fold, where he hits a ‘disguised’
full house and manages to fold to a bigger full house. The beauty of this is that the bets are not even
that big, and 95% of the time you are winning the hand with what he folds, take
a look here..... AMAZING
FOLD VIDEO
This was one of
the occasions where a great fold was rewarded however, poker is not always so
kind, here is another video which reflects what I was talking about before
where Kings were folded pre-flop. The
decision was the correct one at the time as someone did have Aces, but poker
can be a cruel game, see what I mean..... Right or Wrong Fold
Folding hands also
differs in a Cash Game Vs Tournament play, I think folding is far more important
in a tournament as a good fold can keep your tournament life alive where as in
cash you can always re-load either way though making a good fold is a very
difficult skill to learn.
Darie Takes An Early Lead
Another great
start to the fourth season of the Friday Freezeout, saw a heads up battle
between the old and the new. John “The
Beast” Beadle and Daria ended up chopping most of the £2000 prize pool, with
Daria eventually taking it down and landed himself at the top of the new league
table. Tania Festou has come into some good
form also with her third place finish two weeks in a row, and with only 10
weeks to make it into the top ten form will be a factor in the race for the top
10. Plenty of time for those who didn’t
make it down last week, and with the prize pool over £2k every week it’s well
worth winning. See you at the tables....
