International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) have announced they will be staging the largest ever poker tournament at Wembley Stadium in autumn 2012 with a record guaranteed prize fund of $30 million.
ISPT aims to create the largest poker event every year, each time in a prestigious stadium and in a different country, and this will be their first event. The tournament is scheduled to take place over five days, with tens of thousands competing online on day one on tablet computers in the stadium’s stands hoping to make the final 3000 who actually take a seat on poker tables on the pitch for live play the following day.
Each of these 3000 players will earn a piece of the 30M$ guaranteed prize fund, but the big money is reserved for the final table where the last 10 players will compete for 17.5M$, with the winner receiving 10M$.
Only players who have purchased or won their ticket may participate at the event and these tickets may be bought or won exclusively from ISPT’s partner distributors, on-line poker sites and operators of physical poker rooms. More details, including the event date, will be announced on http://www.ispt.com in due course.
Seems like a very strange event - Buy in is rumoured to be circa $1000 and with that guaranteed prizepool players would need to be close to 30,000!! Check out the video on line...

Ricky “The Boy” Wins The Final GUKPT Package
Last Saturday was the final chance to join the Club 72 Poker in Blackpool for the GUKPT £1,070 main event. We had 20 runners which meant there was one full £1,400 package and a very healthy second prize of £600. Ricky came to the final table as the short stack, he managed to double up early on, and then there was no stopping him! There have been a pair of holographic glasses doing the rounds of the card room, in similar fashion to those worn by Greg Raymer, which Ricky decided to wear during the latter stages of the tournament, and he puts his lucky win down to these – If he’s packing these with him to the Main Event I may just buy a stake in him!!
Good luck to all the Jersey Boys who are playing next month....

Battle For Top Heats Up As Tania Does The Double
After Alan Reed failed to make it three wins in a row Tania Festou has been on fire.... she has managed to win the last two tournaments meaning she has won 3 out of the last 5 and is on a great winning run. Last Fridays tournament was an interesting one with plenty of people in with a shout for the top spot and the league leader seems to be changing every week. Last season Phil da Silva was on a great run and pretty much led from start to finish, this season we have had 5 different leaders and at the half way point there is still plenty of time for that to change.
The final table had three chip leaders Tania, Warren and myself, who were all pretty deep in chips and slowly picking off others from the final ten. The big hand that changed the tournament saw Tania pushing all her chips in under the gun with pocket Queens. It was folded all the way round to Warren who was in the big blind, Warren looked down to find pocket Kings and snapped called the All-in to see he was a real big favourite to win the hand against Queens. The flop came down with the very first card being a Queen, Warren never improved and Tania was a massive chip leader taking Warren out of the tournament. The final 3 were Tania, Chef and myself ending with Tania beating the chef heads up after keeping her chip lead all the way, the challenge is on to see if she can do what Alan Reed failed to do and make it 3 wins on the trot..... good luck!
