Season Two Off with A Bang

With the start of any new league you normally get plenty of players wanting to make a good start and get an early lead in the chase for the league title, Friday was no different with a busy evening of poker.  There were a few new faces that made it to the final table – some who hadn’t even registered a point in Season One which was good to see too.
The final 4 were Alan Mason, Dingle, Ewan and Mick Le Nourey with ‘The Chef’ taking the first tourney down.  Alan has hit quite a purple patch these last few weeks, his tournament form has gone through the roof, and it also seems to be running on the cash table too, Sunday at the Pomme was no different, and I think Micky Walker has only just recovered from the beating up by Alan ‘The River Rat’.
One hand that Set Alan up for the win was where he was all in Pre-Flop, he’d pushed as a Short stack and had two Callers Pocket 7’s, and the Big Blind who was short stack himself had Ace – 10 called.  The cards were on their backs and Alan was not looking good with his Q - 3 off suit!!  The sevens held up on the flop however, the turn gave Alan an open ended straight draw followed by a magical 6 on the river for the straight, a nice triple up.  Alan walked away with a nice cash prize and also a seat to this Saturdays GUKPT Blackpool package Event, remember for anyone who hasn’t won a seat you can buy in directly for £110, and with a minimum of 1 £1,400 package guaranteed it will be well worth winning.

Monthly Deepstack GUKPT Special Event

Over the last month or so quite a few of the regulars have been asking if we can run some satellites for UK Poker events, so we have decided to modify the “Monthly Deepstack” to accommodate this.

Last year I was lucky enough to win one of Planet Pokers UK package Events, and even better was the fact it was based in my home town of Blackpool.  The tournament is very well run at the G casino, and the standard of play is very good – a great experience for anyone.  The main event is a £1000 + £70 buy in with 200+ players, so it’s definitely a tournament worth winning.  I have decided to give as many people the opportunity to play in this event as we can, I certainly will be going again this year, and I know a few of the others who attended last year’s tournament will be doing the same.

The Monthly Deepstack has been a popular tournament however the top prizes tend to get split out when people are close to the money – this time we are planning on winner takes all!!  Hopefully we will be able to make a minimum of 2 full packages worth £1400 each to cover flights accommodation and of course the £1070 buy in.  The next Deepstack is planned for 23rd July at the later time of 6pm to give a full day of sun followed by an evening of poker!

The structure can be seen in the poster below......

Friday Freezeout Season 2 Structure Announced

Season one has flown by and with plenty of players regularly attending we are going to keep the tournament structure the same – we will continue with the £40 + £3 double chance however, the league will be slightly different.

We are going to run season 2 right through to the end of the year 25 weeks to finish on the 30th December.  This season we are going to award the winner of the league with a FREE UK package, a real reward for the overall best league player!!  In addition to the first place prize we will reward the next nine players with the chance of a shootout for a FREE UK package to the same event.  We will wait until the UKIPT announces next year’s tournament schedule however, it will be a tournament early 2012.

The league starts this week from 15th July, and the points structure will be exactly the same – final ten will get points each week.... good luck.

Final 10 Decided

Firstly a big congratulations to Phil “The Mouth” Da Silva for being crowned our first Friday Freezeout champion, he was consistent from the first week and just held out for the first placed prize.  Last week’s tournament did not change any of the top ten places, so well done to all of you who made it.  We are planning on playing the shootout on Thursday 28th July so try to keep this date free – if anyone can’t make this date please let me know and we will try and move it.  Here are the final 10 fish battling it out for the shootout:-

The Mouth
Craig Festou
Ricky Weir
Doc Holliday
Sam Jackson
Lord Whipp
Mark Dicker
Soxy
Alan Mason

Last Chance Saloon For Season 1

With last week’s 2nd place finish for Phil “The Mouth” Da Silva, he has almost wrapped up the Season one title.  Phil is now 9 points clear of second placed Craig Festou and with only one heat remaining it will take a big ask for Craig to win 1st place.
The battle for the last two remaining places for the FREE package shootout is very tight, with any one of 5 players having a very good chance of making it.  Alan Mason and Tania are in the driving seat at the moment but a final table appearance for any of the following fish could put them into the final top ten.

9th
Alan Mason
34
10th
Tania Festou
34

Jonesy
32

Dave Corbel
31

Jason Fraiser
25

We have pencilled in the Shootout for a midweek night W/C 25th July so I will get everyone’s view as to which night is best for them when the final 10 are decided, structure and details to follow.
