With the start of any new league you normally get plenty of players wanting to make a good start and get an early lead in the chase for the league title, Friday was no different with a busy evening of poker. There were a few new faces that made it to the final table – some who hadn’t even registered a point in Season One which was good to see too.
The final 4 were Alan Mason, Dingle, Ewan and Mick Le Nourey with ‘The Chef’ taking the first tourney down. Alan has hit quite a purple patch these last few weeks, his tournament form has gone through the roof, and it also seems to be running on the cash table too, Sunday at the Pomme was no different, and I think Micky Walker has only just recovered from the beating up by Alan ‘The River Rat’.
One hand that Set Alan up for the win was where he was all in Pre-Flop, he’d pushed as a Short stack and had two Callers Pocket 7’s, and the Big Blind who was short stack himself had Ace – 10 called. The cards were on their backs and Alan was not looking good with his Q - 3 off suit!! The sevens held up on the flop however, the turn gave Alan an open ended straight draw followed by a magical 6 on the river for the straight, a nice triple up. Alan walked away with a nice cash prize and also a seat to this Saturdays GUKPT Blackpool package Event, remember for anyone who hasn’t won a seat you can buy in directly for £110, and with a minimum of 1 £1,400 package guaranteed it will be well worth winning.
