Justin Bieber takes it down

Round 5 of the Friday Freezeout saw another four tables turn out for the £40 Double Chance.  It was a lively night with action all over the place, Scott Van Der Vliet aka “Bieber” played solid all night, he was chip leader for most of the tournament, until he lost a big hand on the final table – I thought he had thrown it away but came back with some solid double ups and ended heads up against Dave Corbel.  Dave had been a relative short stack most of the night not getting too involved with many hands however, when he did on the final table, he kept doubling his way through.  In the end they split the cash prize pool and played for the seat into our first £100 “Monthly Deepstack” tournament.  I ended up fouth and managed to get myself into the top ten.  Remember there is still plenty of time to get some points and make it into the top 10, those who do will play for the FREE package to the UKIPT Dublin event!!

Here was the final table

1. Scott VDV 10 points
2. Dave Corbel 9 points
3. Tommy Love 8 points
4. Doc 7 points
5. Ricky Weir 6 points
6. Whippy 5 points
7. Will Picot 4 points
8. Chef 3 points
9. Dale 2 points
10. Paul Gay 1 point

Double Chance Proving Popular

Round 4 of the Friday Freezeout saw us move back to the Double Chance format, it seemed to be very popular again with four tables competing for some vital league points and the money on offer.  I’ve missed the last two week’s playing at the UKIPT and then in the UK for a stag do, so really looking forward to this week’s tournament!!

The final three battling it out were Soxy, Alan Reed & Goldie, with Soxy finally managing to take it down – he picked up a healthy prize pool and a seat for Club 72 Poker’s first £100 Deepstack Tournament!  Soxy jumps into 3rd in the league table, whilst Alan and Goldie both join the top ten with their second and third place finishes.

The final 10 were as follows:-

10. Jonesy              1 point
9. Lisa                    2 points
8. Ricky Weir         3 points
7. Jenko                 4 points
6. Ewan                  5 points
5. Gaz Campbell     6 points
4. Ollie                   7 points
3. Goldie                8 points
2. Alan Reed          9 points
1. Soxy                  10 points

Friday 25th March we will stick with the £40 + £3 Double Chance format, see you at the club.

Mark Dicker Wins Round 3 – Friday Freezeout

A slight change of format for round 3 saw a single chance £50 freezeout and with quite a few of the regulars away at the UKIPT Manchester tournament it was a great opportunity for people to get some valuable league points.  Mr consistent Phil Da Silva managed to extend his lead at the top with a solid 2nd place finish, and while Ricky Weir was away in Manchester, Sam Jackson managed to slip into 2nd place with another final table appearance.
It was Mark Dicker who managed to take down the full ten points with a great performance, and puts him firmly in the league top ten.  Remember the top 5 players in the league  will get a share of the £1,000 league prizes, and in addition if you make it in the top ten, you will be playing for a free package to the UKIPT Dublin event – plenty of time for anyone to make it in to the top ten!

Friday Freezeout Round 2 Report

Another good turnout for round two of the “Friday Freezeout” saw 4 tables again competing for a share of the prizepool and some valuable league points.  With Lord Whipp away the stage was set for another big FISH to bust out first, and Shaky Joe did not fail to disappoint.  I was sat next to him and he was doing well until he tried to make a big bluff – Craig Hartley made a good call on the river with pocket 8’s with over cards on the board after Joe had pushed with only Jack high – Maybe next week Joe!
I was card dead all night and went out just before the final table, to be honest I was happy to get onto the cash table for a change of luck.  The final table shaped up quickly and the final four had 3 of the same people at that stage from last week – Ricky Weir, Phil da Silva and Sam Jackson all battling out to be top of the league table.  It was however, Tania Festou who started to dominate the final table, she ended up heads up against Ricky, and after her pocket 8’s held up against Ricky’s AK she finished him off hitting a straight with 9,7 suited!  Tania walked away with over £500 including a ticket to our first “Monthly Deepstack” tournament to be held in April,  a great result for the women of the local poker scene.

Here was the final table:
1. Tania Festou          10 points
2. Ricky Weir              9 points
3. Phil da Silva             8 points
4. Sam Jackson           7 points
5. Justin Bieber            6 points
6. Alan 'Chef' Mason     5 points
7. Soxy                        4 points
8. James                      3 points
9. Ricky Ferriera           2 points
10. Dave Corbel            1 point

Club 72 Poker Launches - The “Monthly Deepstack”

I’ve been wanting to do this tournament ever since I came to Jersey – I used to play it on the last Sunday of the month at my local casino when I was in the UK.  £100 Deepstack Freezeout, It used to generate fields of up to 200 and a massive prizepool of £20,000!!  I can’t imagine we will see tournaments of this scale in Jersey for some time yet but you never know.

Anyway Saturday 16th April will be the first of the monthly tournaments, here’s what to expect
  • £100 + £10 Freezeout
  • 20,000 in Chips
  •  20 min blinds – plenty of play
  • Free Roast Dinner during the interval
  • Early afternoon start for a full day of poker
Should be a great tournament, and a very nice prize pool!

We will also be running other promotions in the lead up to the "Monthly Deepstack" where you will get the chance to win you seat to the tournament, more details to follow.

See you at the club
